In shape, Stockport County brought four wins out of six with a first win at Aldershot Town on Good Friday.
Goals from Jack Stretton and Ash Palmer on either side of the break were enough to give The Hatters three points. The shot pulled you back to make it 1-2.
County started brightly in the sunshine, and The Hatters wanted to claim a first victory that day since 1926 – alongside the widely publicized record in The Recreation Ground.
Danny Searle’s team couldn’t disturb Ben Hinchliffe before the break, although Toby Edser should have corrected this when he curled up from the penalty area at the Hatters goalkeeper’s far post.

Less than ten minutes before the break, County grabbed the lead with all three front men involved.
Harry Cardwell was knocked out for Paddy Madden. Madden’s pass ball was perfect for young Stretton, who grabbed hold of Mitch Walker and passed him. He was third in the Derby loanee’s five games since moving from Pride Park.

The Hatters continued the second half with no changes on the cards, with Stretton back in action as he tried to knock off strike partner Madden in the area, with Madden’s eventual strike going high over the bar.

After a relatively balanced start to the second half, Ash Palmer climbed the highest to drive James Jennings ‘swinging corner past a helpless Mitch Walker and double The Hatters’ lead, 20 minutes from time.
Fifteen minutes from time, however, County had to work for that elusive first win at Aldershot when the hosts cut the deficit in half as midfielder Josh Rees shot into the far corner behind Hinchliffe.
