A MAN died in the early hours of Monday after a collision between a Fiat Punto and a BMW on Wellington Road North in Stockport.
The incident occurred around 1:10 a.m. and involved two parked cars that were unoccupied near the intersection of Crossley Road at the time.
A man believed to be over 20 years old died on the scene.
Two men who were sitting in the BMW and were both over 20 years old were treated on site by paramedics for minor injuries.
The incident was forwarded to the Independent Office of Police Conduct by GMP’s Professional Standards Department in accordance with normal guidelines.
There are currently road closures on the A6.

GMP Serious Collision Investigation Unit Inspector Daniel Byrne said: “Unfortunately, a man lost his life as a result of this collision. Our thoughts stay with his family.
“There are currently road closures on the A6 pending investigations. It is recommended that commuters avoid the area where possible and use alternative routes instead. We thank the public for their patience in handling this incident.”
