Residents asked for help designing Stockport giant frog sculptures

Residents are asked for their help in creating the giant frog sculptures of ‘One Stockport’.

Stockport, Greater Manchester City Council is asking residents to help design 17 frogs to celebrate each area across the borough.

The trail, which proved so popular on its first run in 2019, will return from July through September this year.

Twenty-one giant frogs hop into the city center and are accompanied by the 17 new frogs designed by the residents and placed in planters in the area.

The frogs form an art trail – an ideal opportunity for families, friends and colleagues of all ages to meet, have a fun day looking for all 21 frogs and win great prizes.

Designs are brought to life by local artists from Arc, Arts for Recovery in the Community, a leading nonprofit specializing in the arts and mental health.

The frog’s unique design could be inspired by places you enjoy visiting and exploring locally, major landmarks or features that make your region special.

The Stockport Council posted a few questions to help get the residents’ creative juices flowing.

You are:

  • What was your favorite local spot that you enjoyed exploring over the past 12 months?
  • What three positive words would you use to describe your region to someone who has not yet visited?
  • If you had to choose your preferred local landmark or attraction (e.g. building, sculpture, venue, or green space), which one would it be?
  • What have you missed most about your region in the past 12 months? This could be a favorite shop, a place to have a bite to eat or a drink, a place for leisure, or maybe a club or society that couldn’t hold gatherings or activities

To help the artists, you can email onestockportfrogs@stockport.gov.uk in writing answers to any questions, drawings, designs, images or other ideas or fill out the form available here.

Please enter your name and zip code and send your entry by Sunday, April 25th.
