JYSK opens new Scandinavian style furniture store in Stockport along with a “substantial” partnership to combat sleep disorders

A Danish retailer that can compete with IKEA has arrived in Stockport.

After shops in Oldham, Bury and Bolton, a new JYSK shop has opened in Manchester Road Retail Park in Stockport.

JYSK – pronounced YOOSK – is known for selling Scandinavian style furniture and housewares and has been a popular brand in Denmark since its launch in 1979.

It now has over 2,900 stores in 51 countries – including 23 units in the UK.

The new 1,200 square meter location in Stockport, which officially opened on Thursday, will be the closest store to JYSK UK’s headquarters in Hazel Grove.

“We are incredibly excited to bring the JYSK brand to Stockport,” said Mark Armitage, Stockport Store Manager.

“JYSK’s affordable Scandinavian-style furniture and housewares, as well as the extensive range of sleep products developed by experts, are becoming notorious in the Greater Manchester area – we call it the ‘JYSK fever’!

The opening of the Stockport store also marks the start of a new partnership with the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity to tackle insomnia and homelessness across the metropolitan area.

Contactless donation points are set up in the branches, where customers can make a small donation for the purpose.

The partnership will run through all four branches in the Greater Manchester area.
