A major road in Stockport was closed over the weekend after a car was believed to be in a collision with a truck.
Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted at 2:18 p.m. on Saturday (July 31st) that King Street West in Stockport at the Wood Street intersection had been closed to the south due to a road collision.
Eyewitnesses told MEN that they saw a silver-gray vehicle collide with a truck – although it was not yet clear how the incident came about.

The TfGM account wrote, “King Street West (Stockport).
“The road is closed due to a traffic collision at the Wood Street junction going south.
“Some bus services may be diverted. Please check before you travel.”

Video footage recorded on Saturday afternoon showed the vehicles in the middle of the street as police helicopters flew overhead.
Police officers were also present.
Photos at the crime scene later showed a car with a smashed front parked between police vehicles.
Transport for Greater Manchester later tweeted at 3:48 p.m. to indicate that King Street West has since reopened.
The Manchester Evening News has requested a comment from the Greater Manchester Police Department.
