SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher wants to be making late fitness checks on Ollie Kensdale and Harry Cardwell ahead of Saturday’s trip to Stockport County.
Kensdale missed the 3-0 defeat to Notts County with a thigh problem while Cardwell has been struggling with a hamstring issue since mid February.
And Maher does not yet know if the duo will be fit enough to feature against the Hatters.
“We’ll have a look at Ollie today and tomorrow and see where he’s at,” said Maher.
“He has been out for a short period of time but if he comes through training we’ll see how he is.
“Harry’s been out for a period of time and hamstrings are difficult ones.
“The next couple of days will tell us a lot.
“He had an injection last week to try and speed things up but he’s had to have time to let that settle so we’ll see how he is.”
The Shrimpers have midfielder James Dunne available again after he completed a two match ban for the red card he received against Maidenhead United.
However, Abu Ogogo (heart), Rhys Murphy (knee), Simeon Akinola (knee) and Nathan Ralph (thigh) are all still sidelined.
