Four projects have seen Stockport Council and its partners nominated at the iNetwork Innovation Awards for improving how public services are delivered to residents.

The Innovation Awards were established in 2014 to celebrate the projects and teams that have delivered transformation and excellence in public service delivery.

The award nominations are for the following:

Finalists for the awards are selected by a public vote which runs until midnight Sunday 22nd January. Stockport Council is encouraging local residents to show their support for service and community improvement in the borough by voting for their favorite projects. Cllr Malcolm Allan, Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, said:

“We’re delighted to be nominated for these awards. We’ve been focused on delivering what local people need from their council services in the place they live or work. Using our residents’ experiences and our own data insights we’ve been able to rethink service delivery and our work as a local authority with partners and communities.

“The nominations recognize how we are helping people and communities make the most of new digital opportunities. This includes our highly successful ‘DigiKnow’ alliance that has already supported over 30,000 residents to get online and develop the skills needed to engage in the digital world. We are incredibly proud of the efforts of our third sector partners and the many volunteers involved, showing yet again what a fantastic community spirit we have across the whole of the borough. We hope you will vote for us in each award category.”

Cllr Keith Holloway, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, said:

“Stockport Council’s innovative approach has been to create a central hub for early help and prevention services. This has quickly become the ‘place to go’ and reduced waiting times for support for residents. The improvements reflect the value of working closely with providers of prevention and early help services in Stockport and listening to people with experience in using support services. Every vote counts, so please help us to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our hardworking colleagues and partners.”

Finalists for the iNetwork Innovation Awards will be announced on 3rd February 2023.
