A 66-apartment facility on the site of the former Ladybridge Garden Center in Cheadle Hulme has been given the green light by the local council.
Anwyl Partnerships acquired the Mill Lane site in February 2021 and set about drawing up plans for its redevelopment into a retirement development for over-55s.
The scheme, drawn by Jennings Design Associates with planning advice from Mosaic Town Planning, proposes the creation of a 100% affordable facility.
The three-storey development would comprise 36 two-bedroom apartments, and 30 with one bedroom.
Anwyl’s scheme had been due to be approved by Stockport Council’s planning committee last month. However, the plans were deferred due to concerns about how easily the building could be accessed by people with disabilities.
At August’s planning committee meeting, councillors said they were satisfied that Anwyl had resolved the issue and voted to approve the application.
