Shadow Defense Secretary of State, John Healey and Stockport MP Navendu Mishra have visited WFEL a military equipment manufacturing facility in Stockport.
The visitors heard about the most recent developments at the firm, a world-leading supplier of Military Bridging Systems and a key partner in the UK MoD’s Boxer Armored Vehicle programme.
They were given a tour of the Military Bridging manufacturing center and spoke to production staff. The bridging teams are currently working on a number of significant projects for both the British Army and for overseas military customers.
The MPs also saw the Armored Vehicle manufacturing facility which has seen a multi-million pound investment in brand new facilities and a state of the art production line, now producing the Boxer 8×8 Armored Vehicles for the UK MoD as part of a £2.3 billion contract with the ARTEC consortium.
The Boxer vehicle contract is creating new sovereign skills for the UK armored vehicle industry, with further job opportunities currently available at WFEL and its supply chain, as the project further advances over the coming months.
