Trains between Stockport and Altrincham stopped due to flooding

Heavy rain is causing rail disruptions today.

Network Rail has announced that trains will not be able to run between Stockport and Altrincham around noon due to “flooding”.

The network said that part of the line has now reopened, however travelers are still facing significant delays.

The interruption in trains between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly is expected to last a few hours.

Northern Rail said on its website: “The line has now reopened after heavy rains that flooded the railroad between Stockport and Altrincham.

“Train connections that run through these stations will be delayed by up to 30 minutes.”

Northern Rail tickets are currently accepted for other services.
