Leisure centers across the district have resumed membership after lockdown restrictions were relaxed.
Life Leisure, which operates 12 centers in Stockport, Greater Manchester, was forced to close for most of the year due to the pandemic but was able to reopen in late May as lockdown measures were eased.
The centers reopened to a limited extent in April, but have had to wait until now to reopen indoors for classes like spinning and Zumba.
All centers are now open, with the exception of Priestnall and Bramhall, which will open on June 7th, while the date for Dialstone has not yet been confirmed.
Member Nina Westwell was one of the first to return to the first indoor Zumba sound class of the year at Houldsworth Village, led by instructor Hayley Ellison.
She said, “This is my first time back at Life Leisure in almost 12 months.
“It was amazing to be back with great coaches who make you feel great and encourage you every step of your fitness journey. I feel great!”
Members can now also take part in indoor adult sports, aqua, spinning and body pump, which marks the end of outdoor and online courses.
Life Leisure’s health suites at Grand Central and Hazel Grove are now open to guests but must be booked in advance.
The saunas at Stockport’s Sports Village and Cheadle, which have a maximum capacity of two, are also available.
All gym and swimming visits must be booked online and, when possible, members are encouraged to be “activity ready” to reduce demand for locker rooms while social distancing measures remain in place.
Michaela Pennington, Group CEO of Life Leisure, said, “We are delighted that the rest of our popular facilities are open again.
“We’ve been able to continue some classes online and outside, but there’s nothing like going back to the gym and having a good workout with friends.
“It’s been a tough year so I think a lot of people were counting the days before they could relax in the saunas and hot tubs as well.”
