Stockport residents have been asked to register to vote in the upcoming local elections

The district’s residents are being asked to register for the upcoming local elections next month.

The election will take place on May 6th and will give residents of Stockport, Greater Manchester, the opportunity to vote for representatives on the council as well as in Greater Manchester’s mayoral election on the same day.

The ward council encourages residents to speak with the people who make decisions about services that affect the ward.

Here are some important dates to remember:

  • Register to vote by April 19th. You can do this online in just five minutes. All you need is your social security number
  • If you cannot vote in person, e.g. B. if you shield, you can request a postal vote. Make sure you do this by 5pm on April 20th
  • If you wish, you can register to vote by proxy (someone else will cast a vote on your behalf). The registration deadline for voting by proxy ends on April 27 at 5:00 p.m.
  • The polling stations are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on May 6th. You don’t need your voting card to vote. So don’t worry if you lose them.

“It is so important that everyone who lives in Stockport exercise their voting rights to help shape the future of our brilliant district.
