Jo McGrath, Strategic Head of Sector3
A Stockport charity is one of 14 charities and volunteer organizations funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Sector 3, which supports the Volunteering, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise sectors in Stockport, Greater Manchester, won £ 48,000 from the £ 600,000 fund.
The charity said the money will allow them to build their organizational capacity to provide more “data, insights and impact” support to the sector.
Jo McGrath, Sector 3 strategic leader, said the funding will also help third sector organizations provide frontline services to the district’s most vulnerable communities.
She said, “We are very pleased that we have received funding from the National Lottery.
“With the money we can invest in equipping our third sector with the knowledge and tools to secure their legacy.
“With increasing competition for funding and demand for services, data and intelligence will help substantiate evidence of the significant impact Stockport’s third sector organizations have on the health and economies of local communities.”
“The more organizations that are part of the network, the greater our collective knowledge and ability to help our communities thrive.”
The aim of the organization is to connect the dots between the sectors in order to unlock growth opportunities and enable the local sector and thus the local communities to thrive.
Sector 3 was launched in 2020 to support the sector in times of financial uncertainty and increasing demand.
It now offers an online forum for local organizations and groups, as well as a website with the latest funding opportunities and development resources.
Sector 3 has its own funding programs aimed solely at helping Stockport organizations provide frontline services.
Other organizations that received funding included Edible London for their project to support food organizations in North London, Gypsy, Roma & Travelers Together, the North East Volunteer Network and the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs.
Cassie Robinson, Assistant Funding Strategy Director for the National Lottery Community Fund, said, “We are delighted that thanks to the National Lottery players, we can support a number of established and emerging infrastructure organizations with the ability, space and time to plan for the Future.
“We know that grassroots, community-led and frontline organizations across the UK need a diverse and effective support system, including infrastructure organizations. This is especially true during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
