Delivery man dies after being knocked down in a robbery in Stockport UK news

A delivery driver died after being knocked down by thieves who stole his vehicle, police said.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery after officials were called shortly after 9 p.m. Friday for a report of a road collision in Romiley, Stockport.

It is believed that thieves stole the delivery driver’s car before knocking him down while driving away in it.

The victim, a 53-year-old man, was hospitalized in critical condition but died Sunday afternoon, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said.

Detectives have opened a homicide investigation and continue to search for the silver Mercedes they believe was stolen in the incident at the intersection of Lyme Grove and Hazel Avenues.

Ch Insp Liam Boden said, “This is an extremely tragic case that has rocked the community and devastated a family. We believe others may have been involved in the incident and a number of investigations are still ongoing to help us find those responsible.

“We still ask the public to provide information that could help us – even the smallest information can prove important.

“Anyone who has seen a silver Mercedes in the area at this point or has seen it since under suspicious circumstances is asked to contact us – this vehicle could prove critical to our investigation. We are also very interested in having someone get in touch with CCTV or dashcam footage. “
