27 year old man fighting for his life after an accident in Stockport

A man is fighting for his life in the hospital after an accident in Stockport.

It happened last night (Saturday) around 11:15 pm on the A6 Wellington Road North near Heaton Chapel.

The 27-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car that was a black A-class Mercedes, which then headed south towards Stockport.

Rescue workers rushed to the scene.

The man who suffered “very serious” head injuries was admitted to hospital.

He is still in critical condition, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said today (Sunday).

A police line remained in place near the junction with Heaton Moor Road until the wee hours of the morning.

Police say they are urgently trying to locate the car and its driver

Eyewitnesses at the scene said officials spoke to the driver of a bus who was believed to have been nearby at the time to try to secure video footage.

The officers have now made a direct appeal to the driver to report.

They also ask anyone who observed the collision or has information or Daschcam footage to contact us as well.

Sergeant Neil Pennington of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Division said, “A man is hospitalized with very serious injuries.

The road was closed near the junction with Heaton Moor Road

“We have to find out exactly how this collision came about and who was involved.

“We’re working on identifying the driver of the car that didn’t stop.

“However, we advise the person driving this car to contact the police so that we can properly investigate the circumstances surrounding this serious incident.

“We also ask anyone who has seen the incident or who has information or dashcam recordings, especially if a black Mercedes A-Class was driven dangerously in the area before the collision to contact the police.”

The officers asked witnesses to come forward
